Gout occurs when there is a buildup of uric acid in the bloodstream and is characterized by sudden, painful redness and swelling of the joints, primarily the big toe. This purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of Rilonacept (Arcalyst™) when used to prevent gout attacks compared to a placebo.
